Daniel - Facing Lions
There is an oft repeated statement among Christians that “God is sovereign”. It is easily said, but just as often equally questioned. After all, we live in a very sophisticated and technologically savvy world where God’s intervention and power seems hardly needed or even welcomed. And we dwell in a culture that has so marginalized God….and so diluted his identity among a multitude of religions….that to some- He seems hardly relevant to or influential in the needs of today.
But, the book of Daniel was written to assure us that it is indeed true- God is sovereign and is unfettered by the plans and power of others, having complete authority over even the “lions” of our world. Written by a man whose story began as a 15 year-old slave hauled 900 miles away from home, it ends with the same boy, now older at 90, standing at the pinnacle of political power in an empire that ruled the then known world….all because God was sovereign!
The Daniel series will share the retelling of God’s great purposes and might from the Old Testament book of Daniel, as we discover what He can do to turn our story around and help us face the “lions” in our world.
